I put my best foot forward when I went to the banking interview. I wore my best heels and my best perfume... and my natural hair! Yay!! Right? Well I didn't get the job. Not only did I not get the job but I wasnt interviewed by the lady I thought I would be interviewed by. It was a British lady with choppy black hair. One thing I will say about British women is that they are honest. She didn't beat the bush like they say. She went straight for it, " Is that all your hair can do?" LOL I was dying laughing. It had took some soul searching for that not to break me but I actually laughed. Needless to say my hair got an interview... and failed.
As I stated in the past months, I had been having problems at my job when the mention of me going natural. It is now july and I am proudly rocking a humongus curly cued head. I got a few frowns but I really don't care, not the way you'd think. The freedom is unbelievable and the respect you get from men is even moreso. Instead of "Yo, can I holla at you?" I get, "Good morning sista. Today is a great day." Or something like that. I am not saying the hair has all to do with it but I think it helped alot. I dont know its almost like a crown of respect, of regalness. So no I am forced to pose a new question. Yeah men respect women who carry themselves in a respectable mannar but is there a different level of respect you get being natural? When I say that I mean more like I respect you and I admire your boldness? Maybe the curls are going to my head or maybe there is something there! Hit me up sista let me know what you think!
