Update: natural compromise?

I put my best foot forward when I went to the banking interview. I wore my best heels and my best perfume... and my natural hair! Yay!! Right? Well I didn't get the job. Not only did I not get the job but I wasnt interviewed by the lady I thought I would be interviewed by. It was a British lady with choppy black hair. One thing I will say about British women is that they are honest. She didn't beat the bush like they say. She went straight for it, " Is that all your hair can do?" LOL I Read More...

1. Why are products so expensive?

2. Other than Sally's, why can't I find a good hair supply store here in Charlotte?

3. Why did my hair break my hair dryer???UGHHHH

4. Why can't there just be ONE seller of natural products, so I don't have shop?!?!?! This is really irritating me. And I don't know if the product my stylist used is the right one for my hair.

I'm just ranting as I'm looking at my dry, coarse, hair.
It's hot in Charlotte and I'm frustrated!

The last time it rained in Charlotte was the 2nd day of June. Of course, today is the 25th. And the heat is atrocious! I can't believe it is so hot!. This winter was brutal (by Charlotte standards, not mine). So why is it 94-97 degrees everyday? This brings about:::::

THE DREADED PONYTAIL! Of course with my thick hair transitioning, it doesn't look neat. Of course, me styling it doesn't add to the neatness at all. I'm a "brush it back, but a clip on" type of girl.
What am I thinking?

It's not the easiest decision I've made. I worry about what people make think of it. My hair won't be as neat as it usually is. There are times that I wash my hair, but a headband on it, and let it air dry. It thickens with waves. I don't get as much compliments with that style as much as I do when I get my hair styled and straighten.

I love my hair. I've always had. I try not to use the term "good hair" but that's what people say I have. People would touch it, to make sure Read More...

Truly Free Experience

Wow...so I went to the club for the first time since april and since my decision to go natural. It felt so amazing to just dance and not worry about sweating out my perm since I am a notorious head sweater. I admit I was nervous about how old friends would react to my new look, but it was well received. I was told I looked like a baby doll which is fitting because I always have looked much younger than I really am. I enjoyed the freeing experience a lot.

This week, I tried a rollerset on perm rods. It didn't turn out bad at all...quite to my surprise. I made some normal mistakes but with practice I will, of course, get much better. Went product shopping with my mama. She's really more supportive of my natural decision than I initially thought...yay!!! We went and picked up a couple Carol's Daughter products that we had been hearing a lot about. Can't wait to try those out...on the way back home we discussed my hair's history. She told meRead More...

Natural Hair and Water???

I'm having an argument with my mom who thinks I'm not using common sense when it comes to natural hair. She just gave me the speech about "our hair is not like white and mixed people's hair and washing it every day is bad for you. Why do you think we use grease and oil in our hair?" Got it. I'm not slow, shampoo-washing your hair every day does rob your hair of its natural oils, which I'm well aware of. However, in my research I have been seeing that regular black people (not of mixed race or anRead More...

Hello there. I am new to this going natural journey. I have been permed for as long as I can remember. Hair was always something fun to experiment with. I wanted to go ahead and BC but my mom said to wait until I had some more new growth. It's no big! I just need to learn proper cleaning and transition styling techniRead More...

On Saturday, my boyfriend and I chopped the relaxed ends of my hair. I am now left with not even 1 inch of hair. And i couldn’t be happier because those tiny little strands of hair are N.A.T.U.R.A.L. No more relaxer or harsh chemicals on my dear crown. Because our hair is a crown, haven’t you noticed that it grown toward the sky (just like a royal crown), contrary to straight hair that goes downRead More...
